2023 & 2024 Charity Partners

Rock The Coast: Shields of Hope - WM

Shields of Hope is run by local Public Safety professionals in the West Michigan area. The mission is to spread hope, love, and encouragement to those in our community affected by cancer.

Muskegon Powerboat Weekend - In 2024 WMO charity partners were Operation Black Sheep, and the LST 393.

The Operation Black Sheep Story: In 2017, a run-down hull of a Vietnam-era patrol boat was donated to a group in Muskegon, Michigan, with a vision of helping veterans and restoring history. A non-profit was formed “Operation Black Sheep”.  In 2019 OBS celebrated a mile-stoned historical event with the maiden voyage of the restored PBR 7331.  Since then they have pursued the OBS mission of helping veterans through the use of the PBR 7331 Patrol boat.  We welcome the boat as a signature attraction at the WMO Boat Showcase.

The Glory of LST 393: In 1942 the LST 393 was commissioned in response to a need for armored infantry divisions in invasions by sea.  In all, over 9,000 soldiers made their way to the front on the LST393 along with 3,248 vehicles. The LST 393 made 75 voyages to foreign shores on three continents, including 30 round trips to the beaches of Normandy. In 2005 the Muskegon group moved the LST to its current location at the Mart Dock. The veteran’s museum was opened and now contains thousands of artifacts. The LST group continues the restoration of more areas of the ship to this day.  WMO would like to celebrate our love for boating on the grounds of this historic ship.

Charitable efforts is the fuel that makes West Michigan Offshore go. The club has developed a strong partnership with it’s charitable partners.
